Once I finalized the alignment and grade I placed galvanized steel 2 x 4 studs over the top of the previously mentioned 2 x 4's. The 20' long 2 x 4 was twisted, so I made sure the steel studs were level side to side and then nailed into the sides to keep them level. I chose the steel studs that did not have the pre-punched holes in them. I believe they are the caps and bases for a steel stud wall. and come in 10' lengths. You can see here after they were painted flat black they are not too hideous to have in the background.
